US Suspends Flights Between Venezuela And US

The Transportation Department of the United States directed the suspension of all commercial passenger and cargo flights between Venezuela and the United States, mentioning reports of unrest and violence around the airport in the South American country.

The Department of Homeland Security said, “conditions in Venezuela threaten the safety and security of passengers, aircraft, and crew traveling to or from that country”, in a letter to the Transportation Department pleading the halt.

The Information Ministry of Venezuela did not respond urgently to a request for the statement. Many international airlines had halted flying to Venezuela anyway because of security concerns and the disagreement over money they claim the government owes them.

The measure will influence a group of small Venezuelan carriers along with Avior Airlines, which has been presenting service to Miami. An Avior representative did not urgently respond to the request for the comment.

American Airlines Group Inc, formerly the largest carrier providing service between the United States and Venezuela in March claimed it was forever halting its flights to Venezuela.

In April, the US Federal Aviation Administration banned US air operators from flying below 26,000 feet in the airspace of Venezuela.

Last week, Trump administration extended the scope of its Venezuela approvals to the defense and security services sectors to attempt to misfit economic pressure on the Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro.

Actually, the moves are part of a four-month-long old campaign against Nicholas Maduro as the United States boosts its support for the opposition leader Juan Guaido.
