James Mattis, Defence Secretary of the United States has appeared to be confident in fixing the pending sanctions on India for its decision to purchase the multi-billion dollar S-400 missile defence system from Russia.

On Monday, Mr. Mattis told the source that “We will work everything out. Trust me.” He replied when a journalist asked visiting India’s Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the missile deal and possibilities of sanctions from the United States.

India requires a Presidential waiver to get around the punitive CAATSA (Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act) sanctions.

Mr. Mattis continued that “We’ll work all this forward. This is the normal collaboration and consultation that we have with each other,” he said while responding to the same question at the Pentagon.
