On Sunday, the dead body of a French hiker was discovered, who was missing since last 9-days from South of Naples, informed a local Italian Authorities.
“The body of Simon Gautier has been found a short while ago,” said the authorities in Sapri, near Belvedere di Ciolandre where the 27-year-old French hiker was found dead.
On August 9, the hiker has asked for help, informed that he had fallen down a cliff and broken both legs and was unable to share his location with others than “in the middle of nowhere, on the coast.”
The victim’s family has alleged that it took much time for the rescue team to organise the search.
According to sources, the hiker was found at the bottom of a ravine after a rescuer with binoculars spotted his backpack.
On Sunday, alpine rescuers and firefighters along with a helipad and drones has cordon the area of mountains and cliffs bordering the sea.
Simon Gautier had been staying in Rome for around 2-years and was working on a thesis of art history. He decided to hike alone from Policastro Bussentino to Naples, had sent his family a photo of his backpack.
On Sunday, a vigil was arranged in Scario Village, which is the closest to the search area, where an open-air mass had been held in the afternoon for the rescue teams and the young man.
