On Monday, a strong 6.0-magnitude earthquake hits South-West China that took the lives of 12 people and badly injured more than 134, as rescue team pulled bodies and survivors from wrecked buildings.
Over 4000 people were relocated as a large number of structures were damaged following the earthquake outside Yibin in Sichuan Province, reports source.
State broadcaster CCTV footage highlights that the rescuers bringing survivors out of the debris, other footage showed a woman being rescued from a collapsed structure.
Images from the nation showed an electricity pole knocked down on building roof, a hole in a brick home and broken windows on the street.
Cracks appeared in several roads and major Highway connecting Xuyong and Yibin was closed, reports source. Rock and mud slipped from the hill side, blocking roads and wrapped around a truck, shows the CCTV footage.
Over 10000 rooms within buildings were totally damaged while 12 collapsed, informed Yibin Authorities. Homes of around 4000 families were damaged in Gong as well.
An early warning alarm system has triggered in Chengdu about 1 minutes prior to the quake, said Xinhua, which ranged for 10 seconds before the quake hits in Yibin.
Xinhua continued that a three-second head start before the quake strikes can avert 14 percent of casualties.
9 died in Changning and 3 others in Qixian, said the Yibin Government in its social media account, up from the initial death tolls to 6.
Rescue team pulled 6 dead bodies and 7 survivors from the buildings, it added, over 50 people underway medical aid in two hospitals.
Over 500 firefighters have been position to the scene. Rescue team were also sent with 5000 tents, 10000 folding cots and other emergency supplies, informed Xinhua.
It was also hit by a series of four aftershocks, which had a magnitude of 5.1- Richter Scale.
The United States Geological Survey has put the magnitude of the quake at 5.8.-Richter Scale.
Earthquakes frequently strikes Sichuan, where a powerful 7.9-magnitude earthquake left 87,000 people missing or dead in 2008.
In February, three quakes hit Rongxian in the Province, took the lives of 2 and injured 12 others.
