Ban Of JEM Chief Masood Azhar, Manifests International Commitments For Removing Terrorism In Pak - TNBC USA

The designation of Pakistan-sheltered JEM Chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist by the UN denotes the international commitment to ending the terrorism in Pakistan and establishing security and stability in South Asia according to the White House.

The Un sanctions committee on the ISIS and Al-Qaeda declared the designation of Azhar, the leader of the JEM, Masood Azhar over it is to Al-Qaeda.

The JEM has taken responsibility for the suicide attack in Pulwama which killed 40 CRPF soldiers and led aspire in military tensions between Pakistan and India. The US praises the United Nations Security Council 1267 sanctions Committee for the designation of Azhar, the leader of JEM, a UN-designated terrorist group which was accountable for the brutal terrorist attack on 14th February in Kashmir which snatched 40 Indian security personnel’s life as per the statement of Marquis.

US State Secretary Mike Pompeo also greeted the potential move and said that it is a remarkable victory for US Diplomacy, as well as the international community against terrorism. US State Secretary, Mike Pompeo said, “ congrats to our team @USUN for their work in negotiating JEM’s Masood Azhar’s #UN designation as a terrorist,” Pompeo tweeted. “This long-awaited action is a victory for American diplomacy and the international community against terrorism, and an important step towards peace in South Asia”.

In the meantime, US State Department representative Morgan Ortagus said that the JEM has been accountable for lots of terrorist attacks and is a crucial threat to the peace and the regional stability in South Asia. She also added, “ the JeM was designated by the United States as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) in 2001 and has been listed by the UN since 2001”.
