US State Secretary Mike Pompeo wrote in twitter post that the declaration of the name of Masood Azhar as a global terrorist is “ a victory for American diplomacy ”, after the blacklisting of the Jaish-e-Mohammad Chief Masood Azhar by the UN Security Council after the moves by China to impede the blacklisting of Masood Azhar for four times. Finally, China pulled back its objection professing it “ found no objection after careful research of revised materials”.
The US State Secretary tweeted, “ congrats to our team @USUN for their work in negotiating JEM’s Masood Azhar’s #UN designation as a terrorist. This long-awaited action is a victory for American diplomacy and the international community against terrorism, and an important step towards peace in South Asia”.
For India designating the Jaish-e-Mohammed Chief as a global terrorist by the international powers, is literally a big diplomatic winning as it had pursued the matter with its international allies relentlessly.
On Wednesday, the US had claimed to blacklist the Jaish-e-Mohammed Chief denotes international commitment to end the longly implanted terrorism in Pakistan.
According to a White House official, after 10 years China has taken the right move by pulling back the obstruction.
According to White House official, “I think China seems to have understood that it was increasingly important that its actions on the international stage on terrorism matched it’s rhetoric”, claiming on the condition of anonymity. The official remarked Pulwama attack as one of the most deadly terror executions.
Continuing the international pressure to nominate Masood Azhar as a global terrorist, along with the support of US, France, UK, a draft resolution had been directly moved by the UN security council for blacklisting him.
France also greeted the move of the UN Security Council, claiming it “ signals the successful realization” of its efforts. For many years, French diplomacy has been pleading relentlessly for designating Azhar, “head of the terrorist group responsible, notably, for the Pulwama attack ”, claimed a statement issued by the Foreign Affairs of France.
