On Tuesday, French Farming Minister Didier Guillaume said that the United States President Donald threatened to tax French wines was “completely moronic”.
Last week, President Trump has threatened to make the move in retaliation for the proposal of France to levy a tax aimed at the United States technology companies – known as the “GAFAs’ (Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple) in France. Trump also claims that the US wine was far better than the French wine.
Mr. Guillaume was quoted saying, “It’s absurd, in terms of having a political and economic debate, to say that if you tax the ‘GAFAs’, I’ll tax wine. It’s completely moronic,” adding that “American wine is not better than French wine.”
