On Monday, the United States President Donald Trump has jokingly promised that he would not develop of his eponymous hotels in Greenland, just a day after he has confirmed his interest in purchasing of the Danish Territory. 

President Trump has tweeted a meme representing the Golden Trump International Hotel Las Vegas towers over modest, primary-colored houses along a rocky coast. 

The US President wrote: “I promise not to do this to Greenland!”

Donald Trump’s son Eric Trump has also shared the same meme on Instagram. 

The meme first appeared on Twitter with the caption: “Greenland in 10 years.”

It was shared after The Wall Street Journal has reported that the US President’s interest in acquiring the Greenland. 

On Sunday, President Trump has confirmed his interest in purchasing the island but said that it wasn’t a priority of his administration. 

“Strategically it’s interesting and we’d be interested, but we’ll talk to (Denmark) a little bit,” Trump told reporters, adding that he has considered it as a “large real estate deal.”

Denmark has colonized the 772,000 square-mile island in the 18th century. Greenland is home to around 57000 people, most of whom belong to the indigenous Inuit community.

On Friday, Greenland’s Foreign Ministry has insisted that the resource-rich island was ready to talk business, but was not for sale.
