Defying the statement of his top officials, the United States President Donald Trump has stated that the report of him being ready to discuss with Iran “without conditions” is “incorrect”.
Without detailing further, President Trump tweets: “The Fake News is saying that I am willing to meet with Iran, “No Conditions”. That is an incorrect statement (as usual)!”
His statement comes a day after the two oil facilities in Saudi Arabia were hit by drone strikes, which arouse tensions between the US and Iran as the US Secretary of State Micheal Pompeo has blamed Tehran for the sudden attack.
Earlier, top officials of the White House have signaled that President Trump might meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the United Nations General Assembly, taking place this month in New Delhi.
Following this, Mr. Pompoe and the United States Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has said that the US President is willing to sit down with President Rouhani with “no conditions”.
Mr. Pompoe told sources during a press release alongside Steve Mnuchin when enquired about a possible meeting in New York, “The President has made very clear he is prepared to meet with no preconditions.”
On Thursday, Mr. Munichin has said that President Trump “has said he would sit down with Rouhani with no conditions,” with the caution that there were no plans to do so yet.
