The top representative of the Defence Department, who had been under inspection since May over whether she maltreated employees, unexpectedly give resignation within the hours of the departure of Defence Secretary Jim Mattis.
Dana W. White said on Twitter: “I appreciate the opportunity afforded to me by this administration to serve alongside Secretary Mattis, our service members and all the civilians who support them. It has been my honour and privilege. Stay safe and God bless. ”
The representative of defence department ensured White had resigned from her designation as assistant to the Defence secretary of public affairs. Becoming the “acting ” assistant of the defence secretary, Charles E. Summers, Jr replaced White, as per the report of Pentagon.
Patrick Shanahan, a former Boeing executive and the No.2 man at the Pentagon, has been appointed as acting secretary replacing Mattis who resigned after disputes with President Donald Trump. It is not clear whether the departure of White was linked to the reports of the investigation by the inspector general to regulate whether she behaves badly with staff members or responded against them after they raised their concerns.
The media operations of the Pentagon officials did not reply to the emailed questions about the status of the inspection.
Six former and current Pentagon officials had said minimum two complaints were filed against White. The investigation aimed in part on how staff members supported for personal tasks for her, such as redeeming her dry cleaning, getting her commencing and pushed her to work during a snowstorm.
