Saturday, June16,2018–According to the report, Muslims all over India had gathered to spot the new moon in Search for ‘Eid 2018 Date in India’, since Thursday morning and continued all through the day on Friday, June 15, as yesterday was the “Chand Raat”. The location of the moon had determined the date for Eid or Eid-ul-Fitr celebration in India.
Eid is one of the two biggest festivals celebrated by Muslims worldwide. Eid is being celebrated in India in two different dates as in some parts of the country Muslim began fasting for Ramadan month one day before a majority of the Muslims started. In some parts of Bihar, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, Muslim started fasting for Ramadan from 18th May as the moon was not being sighted there on 16th May. However, in remaining parts of the country, Muslim saw the moon on 16th May and began fasting for Ramadan from 17th May. Indeed, if the moon was sighted in each part of the country differently, those who had begun fasting from 18 May will have to keep an extra fast later. If the moon is not being sighted in their states, then they will observe “Chand Raat” on 16 June. Muslims offers a special prayer in open areas like fields, community centers, etc. or at mosques.
Eid will be celebrated today all over India as the moon was being sighted on Friday evening. As said, Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, in which a new month begins with the sighting of the moon on 29th of every month.
