Two powerful legislators from California have initiated legislation in the US White  House of Representatives for protecting work approval of H-4 visa workers, a remarkable number of whom are American-Indian women.

The initiation of such a codification comes days after the Department of Homeland Security said that it would publish this month the long-pledged regulation that would block the work approval to spouses on H-4 visas. H-4 visas are notified to the spouses of H-1B visa holders, a remarkably large number of whom are high-skilled professionals from India.

This week, the Trump administration declared plans for overturning the latest the DHS regulations which allow unquestionable  H-4 dependent spouses of H-1B visa holders who are hit in green card backlogs for obtaining employment authorization, for pursuing their own professional targets and contribute to the US economy, said the legislators Anna G Eshoo and Zie Lofgren.

So many proficient  and skilled professionals who are H-4 visa holders , as well as DHS , are earlier extended the eligibility  for the employment authorization for them identifying the economic burdens of the families of many H-1B workers ,  distinctly those who live in high cost areas such as Silicon Valley on a single income as they await green card approvals , they said.

Since the customs were executed, over 100,000 workers, especially women, have received employment authorization, and the H-4 Employment Protection Act bans the Trump administration from rescinding this important rule.

Eshoo said, “ H-4 visa holders deserve a chance to contribute to their local economies and provide for their families”.

She included, “ this is a matter of economic fairness and this legislation ensures it will continue”.

More than one lakh H-4 visa holders have been recipient if this rule. Lofgren said, “ while the Trump administration sits on its hands and does nothing, American citizens in-waiting are stuck in line for their number to come up”.
