Former President tested positive, shifted to ventilator support - TNBC USA

Former President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee underwent successful brain surgery on Monday to remove a clot at Army Hospital Research and Referral in Delhi. later he has been shifted to ventilation upon critical condition.

Mr. Mukherjee, 84, in the Morning tweeted the news of COVID-19 positive and asked the people who came in contact with him in the last week, to remain isolated and get them tested.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited the hospital and inquired about the Ex-President Health. He was in the hospital for 20 minutes.

According to officials, Mr. Mukherjee is under close observation in the hospital. Army R&R has been his favored hospital for treatment ever since he became the defense minister in 2004.

Current President Ram Nath Kovind spoke to his Daughter, Congress leader Sharmistha Mukherjee and inquired about his health and prayed for a speedy recovery.

West Bengal chief Minister also expressed concern and wished for a speedy recovery. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, union minister Piyush Goel and many others took to twitter to wish Mukherjee speedy recovery.

He had undergone angioplasty at the same hospital in 2014. After that, he decided not to contest the 2017 presidential elections citing the age and health factor.

Last year, Mr. Mukherjee was awarded the Bharat Ratna – the country’s highest civilian award.
