On Friday, Twitter has said that it has closed down thousands of accounts across the globe for spreading fake news and pro-government propaganda including in places like China, United Arab Emirates, and Spain. 

Fake accounts coming from China seeking to broadcast conflict among protesters in Hong Kong were shut down, and accounts magnifying a pro-Saudi message coming from the UAE and Egypt has directed at Yemen and Qatar, said Twitter. 

Fake news accounts were also suspended in Ecuador and Spain.
