Reliance Jio’s broadband service to roll out by March end

Ever since Reliance Jio launched its 4G LTE service network in September 2016, their JioFiber broadband service is being anticipated as the next big thing for the company. If the latest reports are anything to go by, users will most probably be able to get their hands on Jio’s high-speed broadband Internet by the end of March.

According to a report, Jio is set to roll out its JioFiber broadband service by the end of this quarter. All the details about the service were already made public on the company’s official website.

It is said that at the time of the launch, Jio could offer 100GB of data per month at a speed of 100 Mbps for three months, which will be effectively free. Post exhaustion of the data, the speed will be reduced to 1 Mbps. Reports have also suggested that post its three-month complimentary service Jio could offer 100GB data at just Rs. 500 per month. The company could also ask for a refundable security deposit of Rs. 4,500 for the services.

With such high-speed internet services, Jio wants to give its users the facility to stream 4K content and connect multiple devices to JioFiber. Along with the broadband service, the company is expected to launch a bouquet of services such as DTH, smart-TV boxes and IoT solutions. Jio’s DTH TV services could support more than 360 channels and a “seven-day catch up option.”

While testing had already begun in some selected residential areas in Chennai in September 2016, Jio’s Fiber Preview offer has already been launched in selected areas of Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara. As far as pricing goes, just like the Jio mobile network the company is expected to follow a disruptive pricing model.
