On Sunday, Jack Leach and Steve Smith have brought an end to the “spectacles” controversy after defeating Australia by 135-runs in the 5th Test at The Oval, to secure 2019 Ashes Series 2-2. After Australia has secured the 4th Ashes Tes tin Manchester to retain the AshesUrn, a bespectacled Smith was seen making funny faces during the celebration in viral posts on social media. Most of his fans considered that he was mocking England’s Jack Leach, who seeks a lot of attention for wearing glasses during the five-match series.
According to sources, the 30-year-old Australian Cricketer has also seen shadow battling left-handed in the “middle of a team huddle”.
However, the former Australian Cricket-team Captain has invalid the controversy as he posed for a photo, that too in “spectacles” with an “all-time great” bespectacled Leach.
England Cricket has captioned the photo on Twitter: “An all-time great – and Steve Smith. Congratulations on an incredible #Ashes series @stevesmith49. Leachy loves the glasses.”
Some of his fans replied on the social media post with amazement that how the cricket players did not care about the stories that were making rounds on social media.
A user wrote: “So you’re telling the media hyped up a non-story that the players themselves didn’t care about? Surely not…”
Steve Smith has made a remarkable comeback to Test Cricket after serves 12-months ban for his involvement in ball tempered in March 2018 in South Africa.
He has scored 774-runs at an average of 110.57, along with 3000 and three-half centuries. With this, Smith broke his last record of most runs in a Test Match in the 21st Century. Smith has previously scored 769-runs in 2014-15 against India.
