Del Potro Stuns Federar In The Finals Of BNP Paribas Open

Indian Wells , March 19 – Juan Marten Del Potro, the Former U. S. Open Champion and under rated Argentine tennis player stunned the World No 1 Roger Federar of Switzerland at the final of the BNP Paribas open in the Indian Wells on Sunday. The crowd was cheering for Federar from the beginning of the play but the 29 year old kept his cool and played his natural game. Later he defeated the top seeded Federar quite easily Federar thought that he could win the match quite easily but the Argentine shattered his dream by winning the game.

Del Potro was termed as a strong competitor of Federar by the experts in 2009 but soon he had to discontinue the game due to wrist problems and other injury related issues. He arrived in the Califlornian desert after winning a title in Acapulco but Federer was a serious contender for the title who was very difficult to handle according to Del Potro and was also then first choice of the crowd at the Indian Wells Garden.Del Potro won the first set against Federar and got a match point in the second set . He managed to defeat Federar with a score of 6-4,6-7, 7-6 and shattered the dream of the defending champion by winning the title for the first time in his career.
