West Bengal State Government has declared a complete 14 days lockdown from 5 pm on 9th July, Thursday. Right after Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee requested the aviation ministry to suspend all flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Chennai, and Ahmedabad with high COVID caseload from July, 6 to July, 19 on Saturday.
West Bengal now placed 8th among the worst top affected states, with 23,000 positive cases and 779 Deaths. On Monday, out of 861 cases reported, Kolkata recorded 281.
The Mamata Banerjee-led state government redesigned the newly expanded containment zones in Kolkata and the rest of the State. Till 1st, July there were 18 containment zones in Kolkata, now it has revised up to 28 as per the source.
Total lockdown will also be imposed in Malda’s 49 municipal wards from Wednesday for a week. The Dalkhola Municipal area in North Dinajpur district is also heading for a total lockdown from tomorrow.
Previously the zones were segregated into three categories: Affected Zone, Buffer Zone, and Clean Zone Or ABC Zones. Now Affected and Buffer Zone has merged. The Updated containment zone list will be shared tomorrow by the Government.
The State will Prohibit any private or public office activities, gatherings, all forms of transport, and marketing/trading/industrial activities in the newly defined containment zones after 5 Pm, Thursday.
Coronavirus count across India now crossed seven Lakh mark on Monday with 22,252 new cases and 467 deaths in the last 24 hours. India now in the third worst hit nation overtaking Russia with a total positive count of 7,19,665 and the death count to 20,160.
