A profound fashion designer, especially known for her unique urban contemporary style in men’s fashion and traditional sarees for women found dead in her bathroom of was found dead in the bathroom of her residence on Broad Street in south Kolkata on Thursday midnight.
Sarbari Dutta used to live alone on the ground floor on their Broad Street residence while her son and her daughter in law lives in the first floor of the same apartment. The family used to meet regularly during breakfast on the ground floor before everyone leave for their work.
On account of the Viswakarma puja, everyone was busy on the first floor. But later on when the 63 years old fashion designer did not respond to any calls and message till evening the suspicious grew strong. Late-night at around 11.30 pm, her body was found her lying in the bathroom.
Her body, which bore injury marks on the ankle, has been sent for postmortem examination as her body was discovered in the Bathroom. The family Physician however had confirmed she died of massive cardiac arrest.
Her label grew popular for a unique blend of ethnicity and modernity in fabric and vibrancy in color. She had draped personalities ranging from sportsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly to Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee and singer-composer Anupam Roy, fashion industry sources said.
Dutta used to say “I would like to ask the younger generation to flaunt their wear confidently. Don’t mimic, be yourself. Films don’t influence fashion statement,”.
