The case filed by K Venkat Narayana, C Kamala, Dr. G Rammohan Reddy and  K Vijayvardhan Rao all are the resident of Jubilee Hills reside next to the four-acre Jurassic Park Hyderabad. On Thursday, Justice Challa Kodanda Ram said that this should be sole burden of a few neighbors of the park. Since there is an element of Public Interest in the matter, the court should take it up.

The issue over the park erupted in the year of 2008 when GHMC commissioner CVSK Sarma leased out a huge portion of this park to a Hyderabad – Based hospitality player – M/s Udi Foods and Beverages India Pvt Ltd – on a 99- year Lease for a nominal amount. Later the firm then started raising structures in the park. The residents of Jubilee Hills raised an alarm to stop the destruction of the park and challenge the GHMC decision in the High Court.

The HC had earlier raised doubts about the way the GHMC commissioner had gone ahead with holding with private negotiations.

“The park is within the purview of the Jubilee Hills Co-operative House Building Society that falls under the residential zone and no commercial ventures can come up here,” said the counsel for the residents, Y Rama Rao to the court.
