Ravi Shankar Prasad ensure the safety of Core Biometric, mandatory for Aadhaar

Today the government ensure the safety of core biometric, which is required for Aadhaar verification. The use of biometric by eliminating middlemen has ensured savings of almost Rs.90, 000 of the government.

It concerned the addressing safety of Aadhaar database, which was raised at the time of Rajya Sabha’s Question Hour. In respect to the question, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of IT and Electronics responded, “There has been no case of misuse of UIDAI database till date.”

Minister Prasad reports that the government has offered proper Aadhaar framework by drafting a back legislative framework.

However, Rajya members have raised questioned about the statement and mentioned about the problem of hackers, who have managed to deposit amount Rs. 1 into TRAI Chairman’s account by accessing his Aadhaar database.

Mr. Prasad responded that UIDAI has already tried to solve the issue in this matter. However, some claim that he made was not that much accurate. He continued assuring the members that the “Core biometrics” under Aadhaar is safe totally.

The Minister also talked about the mechanism of Direct Benefit Transfer, Aadhaar usage has resulted in up to Rs. 90,000 crore savings for this year.
