Google Doodle celebrates Dilip Sardesai’s Birth Anniversary

Today Google is celebrating, Indian cricketer Dilip Sardesai’s 78th birthday with a doodle. He was popularly known as the best batsman in Indian cricket team against spin bowling. Sardesai becomes popular as a cricketer in 1959-60 with inter-university Rohinton Baria Trophy, where he scored 435 runs. Today Google Doodle pays homage to the legend.

In 1960-61, Mr. Sardesai made his debut in cricket for Indian Universities against Pakistan team at Pune, in which he scored 87runs in 194 minutes only. His success comes with getting selected for the post of Board President XI against Pakistan at Bangalore, where e scored 106 runs. In the final match of the Test series, he scored against Madras University, 202 runs. His enthusiasts were followed by his selection in the Ranji Trophy, where he represents Bombay. He comes in the list of 1960-61’s first five popular Indian Cricketers.

Mr. Sardesai passed away on July 2, 2017, due to the chest infection. His wife, Mrs. Nandini Sardesai was a sociologist and Indian Censor Board’s member. Rajdeep Sardesai, his son is a prominent journalist, who was Chief Editor in IBN18 Network. Shonali Sardesai, his daughter is a Senior Social Scientist at Washington’s World Bank.
