Taj Mahal and other Historical monument visitors now will have to pay entry fee extra as India’s Archaeological Survey hiked the entrance fee of every historical monument.
Entry fee of Taj Mahal for domestic visitors has hiked Rs. 10 extra, whereas, foreign visitors have to pay an extra Rs. 100. According to the Ministry of Culture notification, foreign tourists will now pay Rs. 1,100, as earlier it was Rs. 1,000, which includes a toll tax of Rs. 500 collected by ADA (Agra Development Authority). Therefore, domestic visitors will now pay Rs. 50 as an entry fee to Taj Mahal.
In consider to the hike in entry fees, the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Corporation) countries, visitors will now have to pay Rs. 540, which includes toll tax of Rs. 500 to visit Taj Mahal.
According to a tourist, fewer numbers of visitors are likely to visit Taj Mahal or other historical monuments due to the constant hike in the entrance fee.
This is the second time hike in the entrance fee at Taj Mahal in the last two-and-half-years. Earlier in 2016, Indian Archaeological Survey has increased the amount of entrance fee for protected Historical Monuments.
