The Central Bureau of India (CBI) has arrested a man accused to act as a middleman receiving Rs.10 lakhs as a bribe. The suspected has taken a bribe on behalf of the posting of the Punjab Police Inspector in Ferozepur, reports officials.
After a retired-SSP of Vigilance Bureau Patiala has lodged a complaint about the illegal activity happened in Punjab. CBI initiated the investigation and arrest taken place.
CBI Spokesperson said that “It was alleged that the complainant was being falsely implicated in a case registered against him for, which a SIT was formed by IGP, Ferozepur. It was further alleged that the SIT had searched the house of the complainant and seized certain documents and articles.”
He continued that the bribe of Rs.10 lakhs was demanded to dismiss the case form the complaint list and return all the seized articles and documents as well.
Being already informed about the planned transactions, the CBIO department created a trap against the accused and arrested him with the alleged of demanding a bribe of Rs. 10 lakhs. Ashok Goyal is the accused person, who performed as the middleman, stays in Ludhiana. Mr. Goyal was performing the illegal act of receiving bribe on behalf of the IGP of Ferozepur, Punjab.
CBI continued investigating the office-cum-residence of the Police Inspector General and seized his important documents as well.
CBI spokesperson said that “searches conducted at the house of private person also led to the recovery of Rs. 5 lakh which was allegedly accepted as the first installment of bribe at Chandigarh.”
