In Chhattisgarh, fourteen Maoists have been shot dead in an encounter near Sukma, some 390 Kilometers from state capital Raipur. There are sixteen rifles belonging to the Maoists have been recovered from the area. According to the police the District Reserve Guard, the paramilitary CRPF and the Special Task Force engage over 200 Maoists in the fierce gun battle. The forces are sweeping the area to check for any remaining Maoists when the battle broke down. The battle of gun fight broke down at forest between Gollapalli and Konta at Sukma.
The Experts from the force department had mentioned that Maoists have also tried adapting to threats to them; they have often used improvised explosive devices of IED to target huge armored personnel carriers. The more details about the encounters are awaited as further investigation is going on.
As per sources the last gun battle between security forces and Maoists happened in mid – July, when other eight Maoists were shot dead at Bijapur district.
