Shatrughan Sinha after the news of Mr. Vajpayee’s death on 16th Augusts at 5:05 pm in AIIMS hospital, he expressed that “What can I say about Atal Ji that I have not said before? Atal Ji and Advani Ji are my Gurus my mentors in Politics.” He acknowledged them both as the ‘father figure’ in his political career. Mr. Sinha disclosed that he was sent by Nanajee Deshmukh to Mr. Vajpayee and Advani Ji for the training in political life, and then he was sent to Madan Lal Khurana and Kailashpati Mishra. “All through my training initiation and acclimatization into politics, Atal Ji encouraged and supported me,” Mr. Sinha added.
He described former PM Mr. Vajpayee, “He was a man of vision. Whether it was the nuclear explosions in Pakistan or the bus service from India to Lahore, Atal Ji was a visionary first and a politician later. I was in that historic first bus rides to Lahore, sitting right behind him.”
Mr. Sinha through his words described his good relationship with the 10th PM of India. He continued that during the regime of Mr. Vajpayee’s Prime Minister-ship everyone used to work hard and was allowed to discuss matters with him. Late Mr. Vajpayee encouraged dissent and debate, which allows him to be a Democrat, said Mr. Sinha.
He recalls the memory of discussion with Mr. Vajpayee over the poor medical care in Patna and Bihar and requesting him to develop government hospital in capitals of Bihar. He continued that Mr. Vajpayee supported his idea to developer better hospitals and that e thinks Patna got its better facility hospitals.
Mr. Sinha talks about the love for movies of Mr. Vajpayee. He said that Mr. Vajpayee used to address him as ‘Kalicharan’, the role he played in the movie of that name. He once again cherished the memorable time, Mr. Sinha had with the Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Mr. Sinha continued that “His poems were sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Jagjit Singh and Jaya Prada did a dance ballet based on Atal Ji’s poetry. Not only Atal Ji, his daughter too is a movie buff. When Salman Khan got to know that Atal Ji’s daughter was his fan, Salman went over to Atal Ji’s residence to meet Atal Ji and his daughter. I think I learned the gift of the gab from Atal Ji.”
“He was a very sharp politician. He knew when to talk friendship with Pakistan and when to get tough with our neighbor. There will never be another person like Atal Ji,” exclaimed Mr. Sinha.
