On Amarnath Yatra: Landslide triggered by Floods 5 dead and 4 injured

Srinagar: 5 dead and 4 injured after a landslide bash on route to Amarnath Shrine. The landslide hit near Baltal route of the Amarnath Yatra. Two bodies were identified as Radha Krishna Sastry(65) and Thota Radhnam women (75). Thota from Fiwalayam and other from Anantpora Andhra Pradesh. Pushkar Joshi from Uttarakhand was injured due to the shooting stone between Brarimarg and Railpathri died at a hospital near in Srinagar. Now the total number of deaths in this year stands now 11. An official said that the bodies were kept at the Baltal base camp hospital for further legal proceedings.

Rescue Teams are at the spot and the injured pilgrims are shifted to hospital. One of them is said to be critical. Tight security provides for neatly 3.500 pilgrims who left for the Amarnath Yatra from Jammu as part of the Sixth batch.  Despite heavy rains and threat of floods , the yatra to the shrine commenced as scheduled on June 28 after several hours of delays.
