CM defends Kharghar deal, says there’s no scam

MUMBAI: According to the local reports, Former CM Prithviraj Chavan has also accepted that the scam of Rs. 1,700 crores in Kharghar is the biggest land scam in the history of the state.

CM also replied by stating that “the land, which Chavan claimed belongs to Cidco, which was purchased by Paradise builders at Rs. 3.6 crores against the market price of Rs. 1,767 crore. High-ranking bureaucrats in the CM’s office and Cidco played a key role in obliging the builder”.

A senior BJP leader said, “In 2009, during the Congress-NCP regime, Queen developers had purchased land allotted to farmer Tatuji Kadam. During the tenure of Prithviraj Chavan, land allotted to Dattatray Kadam was sold to Quality Naman developers. We have more than 200 cases where land allotted to project-affected persons has been sold to developers. Under the existing rules, there is no bar on such a transaction”. He also added, “MLA Lad denied any links with the deal and said he was shocked by the allegations. “I am in the process of filing a 500-crore defamation suit against Chavan, Nirupam, and Surjewala for making baseless charges against me”.

Nirupam said, “The sale deed was completed on May 24, power of attorney was given in the name of Bhatija and Bhalerao. BJP legislator Prasad Lad, a trusted aide of the CM, played a crucial role. We do not have adequate proof against him, but we have reasons to believe that he used his good offices for expeditious approval of the project”.

From the official records of the Raigad collector, it appears that permission for transfer of land to the farmers was given on February 26, 2018. On May 24, 2018, instructions were given to the tehsildar to hand over the land to Paradise builders, particularly in the name of Manish Bhatija and Sanjay Bhalerao, partners in the firm.
