New Delhi: On Monday evening heavy rain lashed the New Delhi and parts of NCR. The met office says Delhi can expect light rain on Tuesday as well. But Delhi likely to witness a “dry” week with the monsoon trough shifting to the foothills. Met officials also said that till 8:30 pm, Safdarjung received 21.8 mm.
The rain-affected operations at IGI Airport as 24 inbound flights were diverted between 8.45 pm 9.45 pm. On Tuesday, the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle around 38 and 30 degrees Celsius, respectively, an official said.
“After a spell of light rain on Tuesday, the monsoon trough is likely to shift to the foothills from Wednesday and we expect a return of rain only around July 8,” Kuldeep Srivastava, a scientist at the regional Met office in Delhi said.
