The Kauvery Hospital in which the DMK Chief was admitted says his vital organs have dis functioned thus leading to the decline of his health. The DMK patriarch passed away at 6 pm. His body is taken to his Gopalapuram residence, Govt allots two acres near the Gandhi Mandapam to bury him.
DMK chief M. Karunanidhi died, said a medical bulletin released by the Kauvery Hospital, Chennai at 6:45 pm. The party working president M.K. Stalin has met the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami at the latter’s residence in Chennai and solicited place near the Marina Beach in Chennai for the burial of the leader. Howbeit, the government of Tamil Nadu, quoted for denying the permit. Instead, it proposed that it has provided two acres of land on Sardar Vallabhai Patel Road.
The DMK cadres and supporters had hived outside the hospital. Many had remained there since Monday evening since the leader was admitted there. The DMK chief was admitted to the hospital as his blood pressure levels had dropped significantly on July 28. Since Mr. Karunanidhi was sent to the Kauvery Hospital his health condition was declining due to aging.
One Day Mourning announced by the Center
The National Flag will fly half-mast on August 8, 2018, in New Delhi and capitals of all states and Union Territories throughout Tamil Nadu. Furthermore, the center has also come upon the decision to accord a state funeral. While the nation would experience a one-day mourning throughout August 8 and on entertainment would be officially run.
Karunanidhi’s Body Taken to his Gopalapuram Residence
The body of the DMK leader is wrapped in DMK’s flag and red flag. At 9:10 pm his body was taken to his residence situated at Gopalapuram.
DMK General Secretary K. Anbazhagan has issued the following statement
“Karunanidhi ‘s mortal remains will be taken to his Gopalapuram residence. Family members and relatives can pay their respects between 8.30 p.m and 1 a.m.
“Following this, Karunanidhi ‘s mortal remains will be kept at his CIT Colony residence between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.
“At 4 a.m., his remains will be taken to Rajaji Hall where party cadre, the general public, and political leaders can pay their respects.” – said the DMK General Secretary Anbazhagan.
Seven Day Mourning
The government of Tamil Nadu has announced a holiday on August 8, 2018, and a seven-day mourning period has been announced for the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
The last journey of the DMK leader is to be carried out on Wednesday and the National Flag will be showered half-mast during the mourning.
Tamil Nadu Government denies giving permission to bury Karunanidhi at the Marina
The government of Tamil Nadu has refused to give permission in order to bury the DMK patriarch M.Karunanidhi at the Marina. It has cited “legal hurdles and several cases pending in courts.” Yet the Tamil Nadu government has announced to allow two acres land next to the Gandhi Mandapam on the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Road.
