On Monday, Amazon.com Inc has appointed former CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of PepsiCo Inc. Indra Nooyi as a director. Ms. Nooyi is the second woman to be named this month to the Amazon board as part of e-commerce giant’s aimed to increase diversity.

In 2018, Amazon.com Inc has adopted a new policy to develop diversity and named Starbucks Corp’s Chief Operating Officer Rosalind Brewer as a director, making her the second black women to serve on the Amazon board.

With Ms. Nooyi’s appointment, an eleven-member board of Amazon now has a total of five women members, including Indra Nooyi, Jamie Gorelick, Rosalind Brewer, Patricia Stonesifer, and Judith McGrath.

Ms. Nooyi will be a part of the audit committee of Amazon’s board, stepped down in October 2018 as the PepsiCo CEO and also as the Chairman, earlier this year.
