
More than a thousand soldiers of Army, ITBP, NDRF, SDRF and State Police were pressed into rescue and relief operations to deal with the situation caused by the floods in Rishiganga in Chamoli district in Uttarakhand on Sunday. In this disaster, more than two hundred workers working in the power project located in Tapovan-Raini region are still missing. Whereas, around 30-35 workers are still trapped inside the tunnel.
By Tuesday afternoon, the soldiers who had gathered for the rescue have taken out 31 dead bodies. However, the work of removing silt and debris from the tunnel is still going on. Relief and rescue work to evacuate the trapped workers inside the tunnel is going on from the war level. Alaknanda and Dhauli were on the Ganges due to the glacier break, but now the relief is reduced due to reduced water flow.
Workers and workers of nine states including Uttarakhand are missing in the devastation caused by the glacier breaking in the China border area of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. They all work in the under-construction Rishiganga and NTPC projects. The state disaster management department has predicted the disappearance of about 202 persons. According to the report of the State Disaster Management Department, both hydro projects have been completely destroyed due to the sudden flood in Dhauli Ganga and Rishi Ganga.
