On Sunil Dutt’s eighty-ninth birth anniversary, all the Dutt fans and movie lovers are remembering the late actor for his strong screen presence and modesty in real life. Balraj Dutt rechristened himself as Sunil Dutt so as to avoid confusion with Balraj Sahni, never saw the life as a bed of roses. His journey was a boisterous one before his entry in Indian Cinema but worthy of taking pride in. Born in Jhelum district, now in Pakistan, a boy named Balraj Dutt reached Mumbai to find a new ray of hope in life. His first job in Mumbai was with Mumbai’s BEST services where he was paid a hundred rupees as remuneration.
Sunil Dutt was a clerk with Mumbai’s BEST supply department during his struggling days in Mumbai. He graduated from Jai Hind College, Mumbai and because of his hard work and his inclination towards arts landed him with a job at Radio Ceylon from where his popularity multiplied. In 1955, he breached into Indian Cinema with Railway Platform. Nonetheless, he got recognition and applause after Mother India, which also starred Nargis Dutt as his mother.
Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt got into the wedlock in 1958 and had three children, Sanjay Dutt, Priya Dutt and Namrata Dutt.
On May 25th, 2005 Sunil Dutt passed away at his place in Mumbai after suffering a heart attack. He was serving as a Cabinet Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports in the Union Government led by Dr. Manmohan Singh. Nonetheless, his tenure was curtailed by his untimely demise.
